Academy Award Nominations 2010: Who are the Academy Awards 2010 Nominees? – The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, has just released the full Oscar nominations list for the 82nd Annual Academy Awards. The list was released just after the Oscar Nominations Awards Ceremony held this morning. This year, the Oscar Nominations include 10 movies in the Best Picture Category.

The 60-year-old is considered one of the best actors never to win an Academy Award. He was nominated for The Contender (2001), Starman (1985), Thunderbolt and Lightfoot (1975), and The Last Picture Show (1972), and his role as The Dude in The Big Lebowski has become a cult classic.

In Crazy Heart he plays Bad Blake, a washed-up, alcoholic country singer. He also sings, and doesn’t do a bad job of it.

The 2010 Best Picture Oscar category was expanded to include 10 different films instead of the usual five. Included in the prestigious group are the animated hit Up, the Sandra Bullock-anchored sleeper mega-hit The Blind Side, war drama The Hurt Locker, and James Cameron’s evocative alien film Avatar.

Avatar took the 2010 Golden Globe for Best Dramatic Picture, and is likely the likely favorite to take the Academy Award as well, despite stiff competition within the category. Rounding out the group of 10 2010 Oscar nominations for Best Picture are District 9, An Education, Inglourious Basterds, Precious, A Serious Man and Up in the Air.

The winners are the five unnecessary films that were even nominated. Yikes.
What is the deal with nominating ten films for Best Movie for an Academy Award? They needed to add those extra five like I am going to the moon… Read more at Huffington Post approved blog IMeanWhat?!? over at http://bit.ly/dtTn4q

    Why wasn’t “Ponyo” nominated?????

And why was a mediocre film like “The princess and the frog” nominated in it’s place?
I think the they nominated Disney’s crappy movie just as a show of acknowledgement. But seriously, over “Ponyo”??
even roger ebert thinks it’s crazy!!

Some of these films make no sense as nominees. The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus was absolutely dreadful as was Coraline, which had the worst plot I have ever been subjected to and was just nasty. I feel bad for any child who is dragged to see Coraline. Is there some sort of deal the Academy strikes with the makers of these awful, substandard films? It’s sad when terrible films are nominated because of some backroom business deal.

—Wouldn’t it be coool if someone like -say
-Sandra Bullock won and stood up there and
spilled on Hollywood’s decades of franchise-slum financial ‘involvement’ with history’s
most awesomely genocidal regime —across the
    Pacific?!

    ————————yeah!
