American Idol Top 24 Season 9 Recap: American Idol Top 24 2010 Revealed – The American Idol judges have narrowed the field of prospective talent down for the upcoming 9th season.  So far just seven contestants have been named to the American Idol Top 24 Season 9 finalists.  They are: Didi Benami, Lee DeWyze, Katelyn Epperly, Todrick Hall, Casey James, Aaron Kelly and Michael Lynche.  America will have to wait a day or so to find out the rest of the field.

The best tweak is they ended the godawful practice of bringing in the last two contestants together. Both were guaranteed to be miserable since the winner could hardly rejoice without looking like a complete jerk.

After announcing seven of the top 24 contestants on Tuesday night, ‘American Idol’ named the final 17 on last night’s show. Among singers hoping to compete for the title are Janelle Wheeler, Crystal Bowersox, Michael ‘Big Mike’ Lynche and Aaron Kelly.

On Wednesday, Idol went half an hour and gave smiles to eight people before we finally saw someone sent home with a tearful “no” followed by a montage of goodbyes. Then a slew of more “yes’s.”

Judges Randy Jackson, Kara DioGuardi, Ellen Degeneres, and Simon Cowell revealed their top 24 contestants tonight.

Making the cut were featured favorites 20-year-old college student Tim Urban from Duncanville, Texas, 24-year-old sales representative Janell Wheeler from Tampa, and 24-year-old tattooed mother Crystal Bowersox from Elliston, Ohio.

They will join the seven contenders announced last night, along with Andrew Garcia, Tyler Grady, Alex Lambert, Joe Munoz, John Park, Jermaine Sellers, Lacey Brown, Michelle Delamor, Siobhan Magnus, Paige Miles, Ashley Rodriguez, Lilly Scott, Katie Stevens and Haeley Vaughn.

Rounding out the top 24 are previously announced semifinalists Didi Benami, Lee Dewyze, Katelyn Epperly, Aaron Kelly, Casey James, Todrick Hall and Michael “Big Mike” Lynche.
