A lot of people around the world are awaiting for Wednesday’s event of Apple. With Apple’s recent earnings announcement, Apple CEO Steve said that there will be a “new product” launching in an event to be held on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at San Francisco’s Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theater. An invitation is said to have been given to selected press people.
So with all the hype, what could be Apple Tablet’s name? Is it iSlate, iPad, or iTablet? iSlate was the first rumored name for the Apple Tablet PC. According to some news, the iSlate trademark was registered on November 1, 2006. The trademark iSlate was registered by Slate Computing (USA) LLC of Wilmington, Delaware which owns the second trademark Magic Slate.
Now, let’s go to the second possible name of Apple Tablet PC which is iPad. iPad is said to have been registered under Fujitsu which owns the trademark for handheld computing. Apparently, Apple is taking advantage of the fact that Fujitsu has abandoned the said trademark last April 2009. Unfortunately, Fujitsu is said to be pursuing the iPad trademark beginning June of last year when the Apple Tablet PC rumours went up.
After iSlate and iPad, let’s now go to iTablet. Looking back at Apple’s first touch screen phone which is now named iPhone, a lot of speculations are now heating that iTablet is the most possible name for the Apple Tablet PC. However, based on research, iTablet trademark is owned by Amtek which sells products under that name for 4 years already.
So what do you think will be Apple’s Tablet PC be called? Is it iSlate, iPad, or iTablet? Interestingly, Apple has been known fighting for trademarks. The trademark iPhone was registered to Cisco before it was actually owned by Apple.
