The story of the brave girl Mulan,who was able to save the Chinese emperor and China was made famous worlwide by the 1998 Walt Disney’s animated adaptation.

Jingle Ma,a HongKong director,filmed a Chinese-langguage version of Mulan that was released last year.This time around, director Jan de Bont is taking the English adaptation and choses Zhang for the lead role.

In an e-mail sent to the Associated Press Wednesday, the producer,
Christopher Brough said that they will start filming this fall in Hengdian Studio in China.

Zhang Zi Yi popularity rose to stardom in her impressive portrayal in “Crouching Tiger.Since then,Zhang has been busy handling her careers in Hollywood and in China.

She made a number of Hollywood movies including “Rush Hour 2,” “Memoirs of a Geisha” and “Horsemen.” In her native land China, her recent films include “Forever Enthralled” and “Sophie’s Revenge.”

Zhang will soon begin her training for bow and arrow and ground combat in preparation for her role, says her manager, Ling Lucas, in an e-mail sent to AP.

“She has complete trust in Jan de Bont to turn Mulan into a memorable screen legend,” Lucas said. “She had admired Jan’s work for a long time and really looks forward to working with him.”

The Dutch-born director’s other works include “Twister,” “The Haunting” and “Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life.”

According to Wonder Girls management JYP Entertainment (JYPE) on Tuesday,the group were given invites by a 3D game company,NCsoft,to perform at the Experience Music Project (EMP),of the Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) prime 2010 which took place last September 3rd in Seattle,Washington.

Wonder Girls performed their singles “Two Different Tears”, “Tell Me”. “So Hot” and “Nobody”.They also met up with approximately 150 fans after the show for picture taking.

“The Wonder Girls are the first ever Asian singers to have performed on the PAX stage”, an official from PAX was quoted as saying, adding that it was “a great performance and the audience was happy”.

A JYPE official explained that it was the second time for the group to see and spend time with their fans in Seattle. They were in the city on June 31st as one of the stops for their U.S. tour.

PAX, created by “Penny Arcade” authored by Jerry Holkins and Mike Krahulik, is a bi-annual gamer festival held in Seattle and Boston. It was launched in 2004 which focuses on console games, computer games and tabletop games.

The three-member parole board panel concluded in written comments that Chapman’s “discretionary release remains inappropriate at this time and incompatible with the welfare of the community.”

Her lawyer Peter Shukat told the newspaper that Ono was “very pleased” to hear of the decision to keep Chapman incarcerated.
