Honda Recall Airbags: Honda Extended Car Recall of Airbag Faults – Honda Motor Co Wednesday announced that it would recall 437,763 vehicles globally over a problem with Honda’s driver seat’s airbag inflator. People are searching all over the net for Honda Recall Airbag, Honda Recall list of affected models, Honda Recall website etc.
Honda Motors is adding 437,000 vehicles to an existing recall due to faulty airbags. The announcement came today in Tokyo. The company wants to replace the driver’s side air-bag inflator because it may deploy with too much pressure causing severe injury to the driver.
The recall affects certain 2001 and 2002 Accord Sedans, Civic compacts, Odyssey minivans, the CRV and some 2002 Acura T-L sedans.
Honda officials said that when the defective airbags break, it results in metal fragments passing through the airbag cushion material and possibly causing injury or fatality to vehical occupants. Many incidents of airbags breaking took place and in one case even a driver has been killed.
The latest Honda recall covers seven models sold in the US, including 2001 and 2002 Accord and Civic cars, Odyssey minivans, CR-V sport-utility vehicles and 2002 Acura TL cars. In Japan, the affected models are Inspire, Saber and Lagreat.
Honda said the driver’s airbag inflators in the vehicles may deploy with too much pressure and rupture the casing, causing injury or fatality to vehicle occupants. 12 persons were injured in the US in connection with the defect by July 2009, “although there have been no incidents since the previous recall” last year, it said.
Also at the same time, Toyota will go ahead with its declaration of recalling 133,000 2010 model and 14,500 Lexus HS 250h hybrid cars because of the saring customer complaints on braking system. Toyota Prius recall reached 2.3 million US cars for faulty gas pedals and another 5.3 million for sticky floor mats.
Honda had recalled about 514,000 vehicles for the same problem in 2008 and 2009. It even recalled about 646,000 vehicles worldwide last month to fix faulty power window switches.
