Illinois Primary Election Results:

For the Illinois Primary Election Results, it was just announced that Hoffman conceded to Democrat Treasurer of Illinois Alexi Giannoulias. So, it appears as if the Democratic Senate hopeful is Giannoulias to fill the vacant seat left by President Obama.

Democratic voters nominated the Illinois treasurer Alexi Giannoulias in Tuesday’s Illinois primary election. With 93 percent of precincts reporting, Giannoulias had 315,829 votes or 39 percent. On the other hand, GOP voters picked the five-term congressman Republican Mark Kirk. With 93 percent of precincts reporting, Mark Kirk had 378,676 votes or 57 percent.

Alexi Giannoulias (Democrat) and Rep. Mark Kirk (Republican) won their respective party nominations for the Illinois Primary Election.

Cook County Election Results

For the Cook County Election Results, Democrat Toni Preckwinkle won and was able to unseat incumbent Todd Stroger. Preckwinkle grabbed 42.9% of the vote.

Race for Illinois Governor

According to the Chicago Tribune, the race for Illinois Governor was too close to call at the time of this post. With 99 percent of the Illinois’ precincts reporting, Patt Quinn and Dan Hynes each had 50 percent, separated by about 5,400 votes in a bitter contest for the Democratic Illinois governor nomination. Though Hynes did not concede, Quinn, flanked by his 92-year-old mother, sought to portray himself as the winner, saying “the primary is over.”

On the Republican side of the Illinois Governor Election, Brady had 21 percent to 20 percent for Dillard, about 1,500 votes apart. Former state Republican chairman Andy McKenna had 19 percent, with 99 percent counted. With the tight Illinois Governor election results, a recount is likely to happen
