ING sponsors the ING Marathon in Miami. In this Marathon at Miami, thousands of runners will hit the streets of Downtown Miami early Sunday. There are two choices for runners’ participation depending on distance – ING Miami Full Marathon and ING Miami Half Marathon.

In this year’s ING Miami Marathon, 17,000 runners/walkers were expected to participate. The ING Miami Marathon race course starts at American Airlines Arena, travels north and continues through Miami Beach, Downtown Miami, Little Havana, Coconut Grove, and Coral Gables before returning downtown for a finish at Bayfront Park.

Because of this ING Miami Marathon, a number of streets are closed to traffic to accommodate the runners and walkers who will be participating in this marathon sponsored by ING. If you are a road travveler, take note that no northbound traffic is allowed along Biscayne Blvd along the ING Miami marathon course route. All traffic on Brickell Avenue traveling north towards the Brickell Bridge will be directed west on 7th Street. The affected roads should be re-opened by noon.

For participating runners in this ING Miami Marathon race, Miami-Dade Transit offered a special 1-Day Pass, additional rail service, and free parking at Metrorail stations. The 1-Day Pass which Miami-Dade offers for Miami Marathon participants regularly sells for $5 but was made available at a discounted rate of $2 for Miami Marathon participants.

In addition, MDT is providing additional service on Metrorail and Metromover. Metrorail service will be provided every 10 minutes starting at 4 a.m. and until 6 a.m. Service will be adjusted to the regular Sunday schedule after 6 a.m. Metromover will provide frequent service beginning at 4 a.m. Service will be adjusted to normal Sunday service after the event. In addition, parking at all Metrorail stations and Park & Ride lots will be free all day on Sunday.

We’ll be watching for the winner of the Miami Marathon. Good luck to everyone!
