This is breaking news! A meteor has been reported to have hit Mexico leaving a 30 meter crater.

According to Mexican media milenio.com, the meteor’s impact was in between the towns of Ahuazotepec and Cuautepecy in Central Mexico. The impact of the meteorite was in a relatively unpopulated area and hit Mexico around 6.30pm local time.

Initially authorities believed the impact was caused by a falling aircraft. However, upon reaching the place of meteor impact, they realized that the phenomenon left a hole 30 meters in diameter and was probably caused by a meteorite.

Civil Protection Director of Hidalgo, Miguel Garcia Conde said: “It’s something that should be investigated, we do not know what happened, or where, it has sought throughout the area and have not found anything. But it is a phenomenon that deserves investigation.”

If there’s anyone from Mexico reading this, can you please confirm if this news scoop has been confirmed?

the event is being monitored by the Mexican news. they describe the falling object destroyed a local bridge and the Mexican Army limited access to the area. People who saw the event describe it as falling white-blue light. that made a 30 meters hole.

It hit between the states of Hidalgo and Puebla, in the hills of Labra, El Yolo and Los Ermitaños. The search will be in a 10 kilometers radio in that zone. This phenomenon was seen at 3:50 pm central Mexico time yesterday.

I’m in Mexico City. One of my co-workers saw it falling on Wednesday evening while driving on the Periferico. From what I’ve been hearing from interviews with firemen and other people involved in the search, I don’t think the 30meter diameter crater is confirmed. It looks like it broke up and fell to the ground in several pieces. I’m going to go there this weekend and see what I can find for myself. If there is a crater, I will upload some pictures!! :)
