Wear Red Day 2010: Go Red for Women 2010: American Heart Association – Today is National Wear Red Day 2010, so everyone is requested to wear red today most especially for women. A campaign was developed by American Heart Association to help save lives so Go red for women today to support this campaign.
According to American Heart Association, heart diseases are the number one killer of women. It is reported that more than 450,000 women die each year consequently and many are ignorant of the risk factors of heart diseases, many of which can be controlled or prevented. The Go Red For Women movement is working hard to change the perception and expand the awareness that heart diseases are not only for men but in fact, it was the number one killer of women.
Regan Goldberg, vice president of field operations for the heart association in Collier and Lee counties said that about 75 businesses are promoting Wear Red Day in Southwest Florida.
According to the heart and lung institute, eighty percent of women at mid-life, aged 40 to 60, still have one or more risk factors that can be modified to reduce their risk of heart disease later in life.
Forget about the usual color you might be wearing every day since today is Wear Red Day Friday, so put your usual dress aside and wear red. Wear red to indicate your awareness that heart disease is the number one killer of women. You should also encourage other people to wear red today for the awareness.
However, awareness should not stop with just wearing red today. Here are some things you can do every day to keep your heart healthy.
