Woman Super-G: Vonn Wins Bronze, Miller Takes Silver and Fischbacher Settles for Gold – Lindsey Vonn of the U.S. won the bronze medal in the women’s super-G, her second medal of the Games. Vonn also won the women’s downhill earlier in the Games. Vonn, the 17th skier down the mountain, briefly held the lead with a time of 1:20.88 before being passed.
Miller picked up a silver in the super-G Friday to go with the bronze he won in the downhill.
“I already have a gold medal so I can’t be too disappointed,” Vonn said. “I think any medal at the Olympics is a success so I’m really happy about it.”
Andrea Fischbacher of Austria won gold in the super-G, with a time of 1:20.14.
“Our kids love to compete in the big show,” said Bill Marolt, head of the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association.
Overall, the U.S. delegation has won 20 medals, nearly matching its total from Turin (25). With 52 events left, the Americans are charging toward their record of 34 medals won at the Salt Lake City Games in 2002.
